In early July, Roberto from Santiago de Chile visited the city of Groningen. As he is producing a podcast series on Jewish heritage (worldwide), a visit to the Groningen Synagogue was a must! ‘From the outside, the elegant domes, arched windows and cross-shaped layout may surprise you. But as you get closer, you discover that this is no ordinary building. It is a sanctuary of remembrance, a symbol of resilience and a living testimony to more than four centuries of Jewish presence in the northern Netherlands.’ After an introductory video, a podcast followed a few weeks later in which we delved deeper into the story of the Groningen Synagogue and the mission of the Folkingestraat Synagogue Foundation, which is responsible for opening the building to the public.

In the English-language podcast “Un Café con Kavanáh”, Roberto spoke with Geert Volders, director of the Groningen Synagogue. ‘A journey through time, architecture, human spirit’.
