Call for participants: the ‘Van huis uit’ portrait project

For a new portrait project in collaboration with Synagogue Groningen, photographer Daniek Snijder is looking for people from a Jewish background who would like to take part in an exhibition.
The project, entitled ‘Van huis uit’, explores Jewish identity, community and connection. “Through portraits and short personal stories, I want to show how differently Jewish identity is experienced in Groningen. I’m looking for people of different ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re actively involved in the Jewish community, keep a bit more of a distance, or are connected mainly through your family history: your story is welcome!” says Daniek.
As a participant, you’ll be photographed and Daniek will have a short chat with you. This will result in a text that will be displayed alongside your portrait. The photo can be taken at a location of your choice; you’ll decide on the setup together with Daniek. The exhibition is expected to be on display at the Groningen Synagogue this coming autumn/winter.
